“To paint a landscape is to engage in something greater than myself. The ever-changing light, weather, and seasons of our world evoke a sense of humility and wonder. It’s a profound experience to feel small on this vast and beautiful planet. I paint out of joy, gratitude, and adoration for the One who gave us this beautiful world, the light by which we see and eyes by which we observe.” Psalm 8.

As a native Virginian, Amy considers this is the most beautiful state — so much rich, redemptive history, interesting people, and beautiful land to explore. Amy’s artwork is approachable, guided by her experiences painting plein air and a love for nature’s bold color. Her paintings often include a hint of man-made structures settled among the natural world – a house, a figure, or a pathway. Her paintings attempt to depict both man and land as equally subject to the effects of the sun’s light and earth’s atmosphere.

Amy studied at VCU’s School of the Arts, receiving her BA in Communication Arts. Now she lives in Midlothian, Virginia with her husband and four young daughters. She paints part-time both on location and in her home studio.
