"Think of me as your Art's stylist - I'm here to make it look its absolute best!"
My name is Beate, I am the single creator, designer, and the brain behind this artisan business. Everything you see at the gallery has been and is put together, built, curated, designed or envisioned by me. I have been framing since I graduated (with a few side gigs along the way). If you don't see me right away when you enter the gallery, you can find me in the open studio toward the back ... creating beautiful custom framing!
I am originally from Northern Germany. Growing up abroad and traveling throughout Europe has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures, tastes, styles and designs.
I moved to the States to attend The Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington, DC. By trade, I am a printmaker, painter, ceramicist, muralist, framer ... and more -
I love to create, my mind never stops, and design and art run in my blood.
I opened my first venues LA LINEA BELLA and ATELIER ONE GALLERY in Charlottesville in 2010.
I discovered and moved to Gordonsville serendipitously in 2017. I love this community of unique creatives and shops as well as the surrounding vineyards and my new amazing community of strong, independent fellow business women.
In 2019, I co-founded a collab creating community-minded free music and arts events (Main Street Events, LLC) in Gordonsville to bring everyone back together after the Pandemic, and to show off the charm of adorable Gordonsville. Recently I helped start the new Gordonsville Merchants Association. Being involved in the community (when I can) is super important to me.
All of the work here is created on premises by hand. I spend much of my time creating inspiration for my walls and displaying those pieces alongside original art in the new gallery.

Feeling creative?
Welcome to our new expanded location in Gordonsville, VA
It's great to meet you, thanks for taking the beautiful drive out to see us!
WHO ARE WE?
We are an independent artisan-owned fine art custom frame studio and art gallery in Historic Gordonsville, VA.
We've been serving art lovers from across Central Virginia since 2010.
We design with your budget in mind, while also keeping an eye on esthetics, quality and longevity.
WHAT SETS US APART?
As an artist, I enjoy building close relationships with my clients and designing projects they get excited about.
Over the past 30 years, I have framed a wide variety of art from around the globe. Knowing my clients' tastes and preferences and having seen their homes makes the process and success of our custom projects so much easier! Framing is an investment, and honoring your taste and your sense of color and design is very important to me.
Framing is an investment that is meant to last. I like to make sure that we really hit the mark when we get together to work on your personal projects - and that you are excited when you see the result! My choices reflect my interest in current trends as well as classic solutions.
Using a small, local custom framer ensures that: work is created on premises - a close relationship between the client and the designer - accountability for the work produced - long time experience - a desire to produce excellent work for our clients.
It is worth the wait and the investment in return for longevity and unique, detailed designs tailored to your special individual taste, rather than choosing a less personal or lack luster "average" result.
WHY do we offer APPOINTMENTS?
I find that it always takes more than five minutes to design your new artwork.
Exploring your options should be a pleasant experience. Cavallo allows about 40 - 90 minutes per appointment (or however long it takes!) to design the best possible solution for you. Many of our clients bring multiple pieces at a time.
If you are taking time out of your day to come and see us, we like to honor that and devote our time to only you.
Appointments are meant to make things easier, faster, and leave you without interruptions or having to wait your turn ... just think "haircut". But if you should find this process inconvenient, I will try to accommodate walk-ins whenever possible. (Please note that you may encounter a wait this way or may have to return at a later time.)
ABOUT GORDONSVILLE
Gordonsville is such a wonderful daytime destination. It may take you a few minutes more to get here (and usually framing is not a weekly thing anyway), but once you are here, you will really enjoy lovely historic Main Street, our relaxed pace, and the other unique artisan shops, as well as Gordonsville's yummy food options, maybe our small day spas ... and definitely antiquing galore.
