Commonly asked questions:

Do I need glass?

Yes, almost always will you need glass to protect both your piece and the frame materials used.
UV glass is always preferable, and invisible Museum Glass is our favorite option for glazing! 
It adds UV protection, added color transmission, protection from environmental stressors and is (truly) invisible.

What type of frame can I use?

You can use almost any frame design, depending on the depth of your piece and the final idea.
Most frames can be built up to give you the depth to accommodate your design idea.

How do you mount textiles?

At Cavallo, we prefer to:
silk pin needle points and silk scarves / stitch mount delicate fabrics / use acid free tissue to pad out garments to reduce stress / stretch to 8 ply rag.

What type of back ground can be used?

There are a variety of pre mounted fabrics and textures available to line a shadow box with, for instance.
You can also bring us your fabric of choice to be mounted and used!
(We love that option, it ensures a perfect match and adds extra interest.)
